DOE Grant to Reduce Methane Emissions from Natural Gas Engines

Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI) along with Co-PI Professor Sage Kokjohn have been selected to receive a $4.0 million award from the US Department of Energy where they will demonstrate a Mixed Controlled Combustion (MCC) system which can be retrofitted into lean-burn engines. The APRA-e program “REMEDY” addresses methane emissions from domestic oil, gas, and coal value chains. Today these fossil fuels account for 78% of U.S. primary energy. Successful technologies will provide domestic energy producers and U.S. energy consumers economic and environmental benefits.
